BIO/RESUME

Steffan R. Postaer

Boundless passion for developing creative business ideas (Agency & Client Side) winning new accounts, and elevating a company’s creative profile.

PRESENT: Executive Creative Director, JUMBOshrimp – boutique Bay Area agency specializing in start-ups, technology and new media clients. Responsible for creation, curation and choreography of all the agency’s content.

At gyro, I was responsible for elevating the creative product across a broad range of B2B and technology clients, including start-ups, new media and Fortune 500 companies – a niche I have been specializing in for over ten years.

These days, highly technical and complicated businesses expect and deserve powerful brands. At gyro, my mission is to create “humanly relevant” identities -from logo to manifesto. Whether they go to market primarily through digital and social channels or are looking for 360 campaigns, we make it happen.

Prior to my engagement at gyro, I was Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Euro RSCG Chicago. During my 6-year tenure the agency quadrupled in size and revenue, becoming the top performer in the network. Clients included Barilla, Kraft, Valspar Paint, Beam Spirits, Sprint, Citibank and more. I was responsible for their overall creative leadership and quality of the creative product.

Before joining Euro, Leo Burnett brought me in to take over and resuscitate a struggling B2B/Technology shop called TFA. Rebranding the entity LBWorks, we won a stunning array of new business. I became LBWorks’ Chief Creative Officer, overseeing work for Altoids, Handspring, Lexmark and many B2B/ technology brands such as Storagetek and Heidelberg. In the process, LBWorks established a legitimate B2B and tech offering for Leo Burnett. At LBCO,  I served as Executive Vice President and Executive Creative Director at Leo Burnett USA, and was a member of Leo Burnett’s Global Product Committee and Board of Directors.

I am the fortunate recipient of advertising’s most prestigious awards, including an MPA Kelly Award for best print campaign in North America, Best of Show at the Addys, Obies, One Show, Andy, NY Festivals as well as gold and silver Lions from Cannes.

I was also chosen as one of “40 under 40” by Crain’s Magazine.

A copywriter by trade, I’m perhaps best known for the provocative and iconic work on behalf of Altoids, The Curiously Strong Mints.  Early in my career, I co-wrote “Not Your Father’s Oldsmobile” which has become a part of popular culture.

I’m immersed in new media platforms, actively involved on a personal and professional level. My blog, Gods of Advertising has become popular in Adland, enjoying upwards of 1,000 visitors a day. My other blog, The Rogues Gallery highlights personal work from advertising creatives around the world. I am active on TwitterLinkedin and Facebook, with many influential friends and followers. I learned Social Media using Social Media. A lot. For my clients and for myself.

Most copywriters would be lucky if they created one truly iconic idea. So far I’ve made three. Including the game-changing “Curiously Strong Mints” for Altoids. Most advertising professionals are fortunate if they help turn around the fortunes of one agency. So far I’ve fixed two.

I’m ready to do it again.
